A HISTORY OF PLYMOUTH ARGAUM RFC - 1887-1987

Foreword by Leslie F. Paul

It is a great privilege to write a foreword to a history of Plymouth Argaum R.F.C. covering a hundred years. This history is a real masterpiece and a tremendous amount of research must have been made by David Dobell in order to obtain the scores and scorers of the many matches played during this long period.

I am particularly pleased that due credit has been given to Tommy Hitchins who has been such a tower of strength in post war years. It is not too much to suggest that without his contribution Argaum would not have reached the position it holds today in Devon and Cornwall.

Long may Plymouth Argaum continue to provide the opportunity for young men to play rugger for nothing more than the personal enjoyment of playing the finest game in the world.
